Happy Father’s Day to all the great fathers and father figures out there!
I realize how lucky I am to have such a close bond with my father. Not only have I learned so much from him about a myriad of things, but also he is also my biggest fan (along with my mom) of my music and has continued to encourage me. Growing up, we were not nearly as close and connected as we are now for various reasons, but over the course of the last few years, we have started the tradition of Dad/Daughter days and even trips together.
Our adventures have taken us wine tasting, visiting historical landmarks in Tennessee, chowing on amazing BBQ in Austin, TX, taking up photography together and doing our best to capture our outings together. I seriously live for these moments and trips with my Dad. He gives me advice in a straight up logical way, but also doesn’t judge me and listens to what I say before reacting.
I have tremendous respect for him as a person, a businessman, and a loving father. He sacrificed a lot for my brothers and I in order to give us opportunities he didn’t have. I take pride in the fact that people tell me I resemble my dad in different ways. We are both super driven people and we also bond over the fact that we hate gossip and talking negatively about other people.
Last Father’s Day, I wrote my Dad a song to express a bit about what he means to me. I’m not sure what I will get him this time around (it’s getting to crunch time!), but I know that just spending time together is the most valued of gifts for both of us. We are already planning another trip soon and more photography outings and I cannot wait to hang with my Dad.
